There is only one thing in this life that is for sure (besides taxes) - death. We all end up having to go through it. It beats me why this is never in Vogue when it is something we’re all eventually forced into.
With this constant on the back of our minds, why do we purposely waste our days filling it with what feels good to us? Why do we seek rest in comfort in the things of the world, rather than challenging to break the mold of our routine? Maybe it’s too hard. Maybe the reward is not upfront so it's not worth pursuing.
When it comes to meeting our maker, we seem to take one thing with our last breath—the dreams. Dreams of what should have been could have been if only you had taken the time or effort to do it. Your wealth, your career, and your status are taken like nothing more than a whisper in the wind.
As Les Brown so eloquently put it:
“The graveyard is the richest place on earth, because it is here that you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung, the inventions that were never shared, the cures that were never discovered, all because someone was too afraid to take that first step, keep with the problem, or determined to carry out their dream.”
You, my friend, are alive and well. I thank God for the life, richness, glory, and dreams he put inside every single one of you. This is not to be abused. It is to be cherished, nurtured, and grown.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jermiahian 29:11
Now stand on this truth. Take responsibility, and step out in faith. Your dreams have been inside of you and will not be taken to the grave. Remove and renew your fear with hope and possibilities so that your dream does not have to withstand the graveyard that desperately wants to put it to sleep. Remember that every no you get is a not yet. There will be a yes one day. And I will be here to celebrate that with you.
Best,
Sammy
